(Champaign–jc)  –Illinois Women's basketball fifth-year guard Genesis Bryant has earned a place on the Ann Meyers-Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Top-20 Preseason Watch List. Bryant was included on the award's preseason watch list for the first time in her career, while she is one of 20 players nationally and one of four Big Ten student-athletes. Bryant was an All-Big Ten honorable mention honoree last year and averaged  over 14 points per game. Bryant was named to the WBIT all-tournament team last year for the Illini.

(Champaign–jc)  The Illinois football team is ranked #24 in this week's AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll ahead of its return home to Memorial Stadium. #24 Illinois hosts Minnesota on Saturday for Dads Day and Military Appreciation Day. Illinois (6-2, 3-2 Big Ten) is off to a 6-2 start including a 5-0 record at Memorial Stadium. The Fighting Illini have been ranked for seven consecutive weeks, the program's most AP Poll appearances since the 2001 Big Ten championship team was ranked for 10 weeks.  Illinois is the only Big Ten team with three AP Top 25 wins this season. The Illini's only two losses have come against top-10 teams — #1 Oregon and #9 Penn State, which are both inside the top three in this week's AP poll.  Saturday's game against Minnesota (5-3, 3-2 Big Ten) will kick off at 11 a.m. CT on FS1.

(Champaign–jc)  –Illinois Women's basketball fifth-year guard Makira Cook was named to the Nancy Lieberman Award preseason watch list for the second consecutive season. The Nancy Lieberman Award honors the top point guard in the country, with Cook earning one of 20 spots on the preseason watch list. Cook is the only Illinois player ever to be named to the Lieberman Award watch list. Cook was named an All-Big Ten Second Team honoree following the 2023-24 season, during which she led the Fighting Illini in scoring with 16.4 points per game. 

(Champaign–jc)  –Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer was one of 35 quarterbacks named to the Davey O'Brien Award Class of 2024. Altmyer has led Illinois to a 6-2 record and a top-25 national ranking for seven consecutive weeks. In three top-25 victories this season, Altmyer has totaled 560 yards of offense, a 65.7% completion percentage (46/70), six touchdowns (5 passing, 1 rushing), and zero interceptions. His four-touchdown performance at Nebraska is still the only time this season a QB has thrown for four touchdowns in a top-25 road win.Altmyer has been one of the most efficient passers in the nation, leading the Big Ten and ranking third in the nation in touchdown/interception ratio at 15/3. Altmyer also ranks among the nation's best in touchdown passes (24th, 15) and passing efficiency rating (35th, 137.7).  Altmyer and the #24-ranked Illini are back at Memorial Stadium on Saturday against Minnesota. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on FS1.

(Champaign–jc)   Illinois defensive back Xavier Scott has been named a semifinalist for the prestigious Paycom Jim Thorpe Award, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame and the Jim Thorpe Association announced Tuesday. Scott is one of 15 players in the running for the award honoring the nation's best defensive back.  

Scott has been one of the nation's best throughout the season, helping Illinois to a 6-2 record and AP Top 25 ranking for seven straight weeks. He is tied for third in the Big Ten in interceptions (3), while also totaling 29 tackles, 2.0 TFLs, 1.0 sacks, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble. 

(Champaign–jc) –   On Friday, Nov. 22, the Illinois women's basketball team will host Oregon State for a 7 p.m. CT game in State Farm Center. Fighting Illini volleyball will host Rutgers at 4 p.m. in Huff Hall the same afternoon. Illinois leads the all-time series against Oregon State, 1-0, earning a 65-50 win over the Beavers during the 1996-97 campaign.

Jacas totaled 13 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two quarterback hurries, and a forced fumble in Illinois' 21-7 win over #24 Michigan.  Jacas set career highs in tackles (13) and sacks (2.5) in the victory. All 2.5 of his sacks came in the fourth quarter, as Illinois held Michigan to its fewest points in a decade.

(Champaign–jc)  –Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer was named to the Davey O'Brien Award's Great 8 and the Manning Award's Stars of the Week lists for his performance in the Fighting Illini's victory to reclaim The Cannon from rival Purdue on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. This is the second time this season Altmyer has been recognized, also appearing on both lists following Illinois' Week 4 win at then-#22 Nebraska. Altmyer led then-#23 Illinois to the thrilling 50-49 (OT) victory over the Boilermakers, throwing for a career-high 379 yards and adding 60 more yards on the ground for 439 yards of total offense.

(CHicago–jc)  – Big Ten Network will debut its documentary "A House of Brick: 100 Years of Memorial Stadium" tonight at 9:30  The 30-minute documentary narrated by Illinois alum Ryan Baker chronicles the creation and 100-year life of Memorial Stadium on the campus of the University of Illinois. Illinois is hosting a year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of Memorial Stadium's dedication. Memorial Stadium's Dedication Game famously occurred against Michigan on Oct. 18, 1924, when Illini legend Red Grange gained national headlines after scoring four touchdowns in the first 12 minutes to take down the previously undefeated Wolverines. Saturday's game against Michigan, will kicks off at 2:30. You can hear the game live on WPXN starting at 1-30 Saturday afternoon. 

(Bloomington–jc)  – The Illinois High School Association  will conduct its inaugural Girls Flag Football State Finals on Friday and Saturday, at Willowbrook High School  in, Villa Park. Friday's four quarterfinal games will begin at 4:30 PM. Saturday's semifinals will kickoff at 11:00 AM, followed by the third-place g– .ame at 2:00 PM and the state championship at 4:00 PM.

(Chicago–jc)  –  Big Ten Network will broadcast its B1G Tailgate show live from Grange Grove on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. prior to the #22 Fighting Illini hosting #24 Michigan for the Memorial Stadium Rededication Game  Hosted by Mike Hall and Tyvis Powell, B1G Tailgate is the home for Big Ten football fans on Saturday mornings with original features, special guests, and Big Ten analysis live from campus. On-set guests will include Illinois greats Juice Williams and Brandon Lloyd. The set will be located in the southwest corner of Grange Grove. (Champaign–jc)  –   Number 22 Illinois' road game against number 2 Oregon on Saturday, October 26th will kick off at 2:30 p.m.  on CBS, the conference office announced today. The contest will mark the first time the Fighting Illini and Ducks have squared off as Big Ten foes, while Illinois will make the trip to Eugene, Oregon, for the first time since 1990. Oregon holds the all-time edge in the series, 2-1, including a 1-0 mark at Autzen Stadium. Several other Big 10 Football game times were announced on Monday for October 26th. Nebraska is at Ohio State at 11am  and it's a 6-30pm start for Penn State and Wisconsin.

(Champaign–jc)  The Illinois women's tennis team will compete at its fourth tournament of the fall as the entire Fighting Illini squad heads to Columbus, Ohio, for the I-T-A Midwest Regional Championship. All eight Illinois student-athletes will take part in both singles and doubles play across five days of action, which is slated to begin today. Singles qualifying action will start on Thursday, with Ariel Madatali and Rosie Seccia set to represent the Orange and Blue in the qualifying draw.
