CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– Illinois head coach Brad Underwood announced Thursday the hiring of Camryn Crocker as assistant coach. A former Ivy League player at Penn, Crocker brings a decade of coaching experience to the Fighting Illini staff, most recently as an assistant at Colgate. Crocker has spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Colgate under head coach Matt Langel. During Crocker's tenure, the Raiders won back-to-back Patriot League championships in 2023 and 2024, earning automatic trips to the NCAA Tournament.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The Illinois football team will now open the 2025 season one day earlier — Friday, Aug. 29 — against Western Illinois in primetime at Memorial Stadium. The game's kickoff time and TV designation will be announced at a later date.  Illinois will be the fifth Big Ten team to kick off its season in 2025 when the Illini and Western Illinois square off on Friday, August. 29th . Four Big Ten teams open on Thursday night AUgust 28th Illinois is 4-0 in season openers under fifth-year head coach Bret Bielema.

(Urbana–jc) – Season tickets for the 2025 Illinois football season will go on sale to the general public on Thursday at 9 a.m.  Following the Illini ERA reseat, fewer than 800 sideline season tickets remain in locations throughout the stadium. 

Season tickets on the east and west sidelines start at $199. The remaining season ticket inventory is expected to sell quickly. 

All suites are sold out for the 2025 season, while extremely limited options remain available in Illinois' premium seating spaces. Season tickets are available in the 77 Club and Colonnades Club, with new members in the Colonnades Club eligible to get 30% off regular price for their first season. For more information on premium seating, fans can fill out the premium seating interest form here.

Illinois anticipates to sell out of student season tickets for the second consecutive season in 2025. Through the first four months of the calendar year, 2025 student season tickets have sold at double the rate of 2024. Students are encouraged to secure their season tickets today (Student Ticket Link). 

Since Bret Bielema's arrival in 2021, Illinois has experienced the largest attendance growth in the nation. Average attendance increased by 19,403 from 2021 to 2024, ranking Illinois #1 in the nation in total growth and #9 in the nation in percentage growth (+54.9%).

(Carbondale–jc)  –The Southern Illinois Athletics Department will hold a Celebration of Life service for legendary coach Richard "Itch" Jones on Saturday, October 25, , at 11 a.m. at Itchy Jones Stadium.  Jones passed away on February 17th at the age of 87 and left behind a legacy that was unmatched in the collegiate baseball world.  He retired from coaching in 2005 as one of the most decorated coaches in NCAA history, ranking 13th on the NCAA Division I wins list and eighth among active coaches at the end of that campaign. Jones' finest season at Illinois was in 1998 when the Illini won their first regular season Big Ten Championship in 35 years. He also led Illinois to the Big Ten regular-season title in his final season in 2005 and to a Big Ten Tournament championship in 2000.

Major League Baseball has announced that Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson have been approved to be eligible for the Hall of Fame. The earliest either could be voted in is 2028. Rose had been banned for betting on baseball and Jackson for taking money to help throw the 1919 World Series.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois head coach Football Bret Bielema and Illinois head Basketball Coach Brad Underwood have agreed to  new six-year contracts through the end of the 2030 season and 2030-31 season respectively.  Illinois Director of Athletics Josh Whitman made the announcement Tuesday. The agreement is pending University of Illinois Board of Trustees approval at its meeting May 22. 

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Four Illinois women's tennis student-athletes have been tabbed College Sports Communicators  Academic All-District honorees, the association announced on Tuesday. Senior Kida Ferrari was recognized for the third time in as many years while fellow Illini Megan Heuser and McKenna Schaefbauer earned recognition for the second time and senior Kasia Treiber earned her first honors.

(Urbana–jc)  University of Illinois  Senior golfer  Jackson Buchanan carded a course-record round of 63 to lead the 14th-ranked Fighting Illini to a strong opening round at the NCAA Urbana Regional hosted by Illinois at Atkins Golf Club. The Dacula, Ga., native finished bogey-free while carding six additional birdies to build a four-stroke lead in the individual race - ahead of Troy's Jake Springer - and give the Orange and Blue a two-stroke margin in the team race. Behind the Illini are  Texas Tech ,UNLV , and Troy. Up for grabs are 5 team berths in the 20-25 NCAA Championships later this month

Congratulations to 2021 Paxton Buckley Loda graduate Baylee Cosgrove on being named to the all Big East Softball second team following her final season at DePaul. She hit .320 with 2 home runs, 23 RBI’s and 25 runs scored. 

630amCHAMPAIGN, Ill.– The first piece of what promises to be another rigorous non-conference schedule for Coach Brad Underwood's Fighting Illini is in place, as Illinois will face Alabama on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the United Center in Chicago.

Ticket sales information, including priority access for UI premium and season ticket holders and I FUND members, will be announced when available. This is a return game from last season in Birmingham, where the No. 8 Crimson Tide defeated the No. 25 Illini, 100-87. Alabama went on to advance to the NCAA Elite Eight, while Illinois made it to the NCAA Second Round.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Illinois defensive back and Chicagoland native Miles Scott will throw out the first pitch at the Chicago White Sox Illini Night on Tuesday, May 20. Ticket packages are available now for the 6:40 p.m. CT game against the Seattle Mariners at Rate Field. Scott, who grew up a White Sox fan on the Southside of Chicago, will take the field for his hometown team. One of Scott's fellow Chicago-native defensive stars, Kenenna Odeluga, will do an interview on the field prior to the game with White Sox and Illinois public address announcer Gene Honda. Scott and Odeluga will sign autographs on Rate Field's left field concourse (Section 158) prior to the game.

(Champaign–jc)  University of Illinois Men’s Head Basketball coach Brad Underwood announced Monday that David Mirkovic (DAH-vid MIHR-ko-vitch) has signed a Big Ten Athletics Aid Agreement with the University of Illinois. Mirkovic is a 6-foot-9-inch, 255-pound power forward from Niksic, Montenegro. He joins the Fighting Illini after two seasons with SC Derby, a member of the Adriatic League First Division (ABA) that also produced Illini twins Tomislav and Zvonimir Ivisic. Mirkovic boasts extensive international experience representing his home country as a member of the Montenegro National Team at both the youth and senior levels.

(Urbana–jc)   – The Fighting Illini men's golf program's hunt for a national title will begin at the NCAA Urbana Regional at Atkins Golf Club, where the Orange and Blue will host 13 programs and 10 individuals, May 12-14, competing for a spot in the field at the 2025 NCAA Championship. The 14th-ranked Fighting Illini will be the regions No. 3 seed, The low five teams and low individual not on a qualifying team from each of the six NCAA regional sites will advance to compete at the NCAA Championships

(Urbana–jc)   Big 10 Women’s basketball Conference opponents for the upcoming  Big Ten regular season have been announced by the league office. Illinois and its Big Ten counterparts enter the second season of the 18-team Big Ten schedule format, which calls for each school to play one team both home and away, and 16 teams once. Illinois will play Northwestern twice, both home and away. The Fighting Illini will host Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio State, Rutgers, Wisconsin, UCLA, and USC. On the flip side, the Orange and Blue will visit Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, Purdue, Washington, and Oregon.
