The Buckley Dutchmasters split with the Danville Dirtbags on Sunday at Carl Gruber Field in Danville. The host Dirtbags won a slug fest in game one 16 to 12 and the Dutchmasters came back to win the night cap 11 to 1. The Paxton Swedes won two from the Royal Giants on Sunday by scores of 14 ro 1 and 3 to 2. The Buckley Dutchmasters are leading the regular season with an 8 and 2 record. Royal is one game back at 7 and 3 and the Paxton Swedes are in third place at 6 and 4. The Royal Giants are in Buckley next Sunday for a double header of league leaders. The Paxton Swedes have a Sunday bye.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois head coach Mike Small announced Thursday, the signing of Freddie Turnell to the Fighting Illini men's golf program. Turnell will join the Orange and Blue as a sophomore transfer with three seasons of eligibility remaining after a successful freshman campaign to begin his collegiate career at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Turnell is one of three newcomers slated to compete for the Illini in 2025-26, along with fall signee Dujuan Snyman and fellow spring transfer Dane Huddleston.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– History was made for Fighting Illini Basketball on Wednesday night, as freshmen Kasparas Jakucionis (Vilnius, Lithuania) and Will Riley (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada) became the first-ever one-and-done players for the Illinois program. The Illini stars were selected back-to-back in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft, with Jakucionis taken at No. 20 overall by the Miami Heat and Riley going to the Washington Wizards the very next pick at No. 21 as part of a trade with Utah. Illinois stands as one of just three programs with multiple first-round picks in this year's draft, along with Duke (3) and Rutgers (2). This marks the first time in 20 years, and just the third time in school history, that Illinois has had two first-round picks in the same draft, joining 1989 (Nick Anderson and Kenny Battle) and 2005 (Deron Wiliams and Luther Head).

CHAMPAIGN Ill. – The University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics  announced Wednesday that wrestling national champion Lucas Byrd and track & field All-American Tacoria Humphrey are winners of the 2024-25 Dike Eddleman Award, presented annually to the top Fighting Illini male and female athlete. The recipients were selected by vote of Illinois head coaches and DIA executive staff.

Byrd earned the 11th Eddleman Award in the history of the Fighting Illini wrestling program, and the first since fellow national champion Isaiah Martinez won back-to-back laurels in 2016 and 2017.

Choo joins the Illinois program after three seasons at Wisconsin and will reunite with Green after their time together at Dayton. Choo was named the Wisconsin women's basketball video coordinator in May 2022 and spent the last three seasons in Madison.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's track and field teams gear up for the final meet of the season, the NCAA Outdoor Championships, on June 11-14 from Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. 13 athletes will represent the Orange and Blue across nine events at the national meet.

Three Illini men have punched their tickets, all of them returning for a second-straight season: Kam Garrett (high jump), Big Ten Champions Cody Johnston (pole vault) and Viktor Morozov (triple jump).

10 Illini women have advanced to the national meet across six events. Reigning high jump national champion Rose Yeboah aims to repeat after she became Illinois' first woman field event national champion ever. Mia Morello has qualified for a second-consecutive season in the pole vault as well.
