CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois QB Luke Altmyer and WR Pat Bryant were honored with multiple awards Monday after they engineered a comeback 38-31 win at Rutgers on Saturday. Altmyer threw the game-winning 40-yard touchdown to Bryant with 4 seconds remaining. Pat Bryant was the Big 10 player of the week and runner up A-P National Player of the week. Luke Altmeyer  was named a Manning Award Stars of the Week, and the Davey O'Brien Award winner.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Illinois swim and dive team completed the first day of the Hawkeye Invite on Thursday . Freshman Chloe Diner continues to rewrite the record books in her rookie campaign, this time she broke the school record in the 200 IM. Senior Logan Kuehne improved her own 50 freestyle school record to 22.68 where she won the B final, placing ninth overall. Additionally, the 400 medley relay team of freshmen Sophia Paduano, Kayla Duran, Diner and senior Sydney Stoll closed out the meet with a school record.

(Champaign–jc)  In front of the third-largest crowd in program history, the University of Illinois Women's basketball team cruised to a 94-25 victory over Le Moyne. It was Field Trip Day at State Farm Center on Monday afternoon. Four Illini scorers finished in double figures, while all 10 players who dressed for the game earned playing time in the win.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– Illinois head coach Brad Underwood announced Thursday the signing of Keaton Wagler to a Big Ten Athletics Scholarship Agreement. Wagler is a 6-foot-6, 180-pound guard from Shawnee, Kansas. He is a four-star recruit by 247Sports, ranked as the No. 150 player overall in the class of 2025, and the No. 28 shooting guard. Wagler attends Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, playing for coach David Birch. He averaged 12.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists as a junior, shooting 52% from the field, 50% from 3-point range, and 80% from the free throw line.

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Illinois redshirt freshman wrestler Kannon Webster was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week the conference announced yesterday. (Champaign–jc)  –For the third-straight season under head coach Shauna Green, Fighting Illini women's basketball is ranked in the Associated Press Top-25 Poll, coming in at No. 23 in the Week 1 listing. Illinois opened the 2024-25 campaign with an 83-74 win over No. 19 Florida State followed by a 65-53 victory against Marquette. Illinois has been ranked in six combined AP polls under Green. In 2022-23, the Illini appeared in four Top-25 polls, followed by the preseason rankings in 2023-24, and most recently the Week 1 poll in 2024-25. The Illini have now appeared in 69 AP polls all-time across 11 different seasons. Green joins Naismith Hall of Famer Theresa Grentz as the only two coaches in program history to lead their teams to AP Top-25 ranking appearances in three-straight seasons. 

CHAMPAIGN, Ill.– Illinois forward Will Riley is the inaugural Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the 2024-25 season, the conference office announced Monday. Riley earns the award after a record-setting performance with the Fighting Illini.

Riley broke the Illinois freshman debut scoring record last Monday, pouring in 31 points on 10-for-13 shooting, including 5-for-6 on 3-pointers, to go along with 6-of-7 free throws in the win over Eastern Illinois.  He scored in double figures again in Friday's win over SIU Edwardsville, finishing with 14 points
